The car was sold when I made one of the greatest automotive upgrades in history to TTR-015. It went on
e-bay with a more honest description than when it was bought and the sale price reflected that. It sold for
around $1600 to a guy in Montana in June 2006. A shipping company came and picked it up.
When I bought the car, some previous owner had spent a few bucks and put a set of extremely light and
good looking Panasport wheels on the car. It also came to me with quite a large amount of negative
camber in the rear. My mods were the cheap kind. Wieght reduction. Aka, parts removal. The first to go
was the huge, ugly, heavy bumpers. I mean come on. As if you would have a chance in hell of surviving
an accident even with them. I also got rid of some emmisions equipment and other non-essentials.
This car was accidentally bought on e-bay in one of those, "ahh, I'll never get it for this" type of deals in
December of 2005 for $2200. The idea was I could sell the MR2 (TTR-012) that I was driving at the time
for around the same money and be driving a much cooler car. Unfortunately, I didn't take into
consideration the world renowned '80's FIAT build quality or the broken since the '80's air conditioning.
(You might notice I bought the car in the winter and sold it in the summer) Despite having a new starter in
it when I bought it, the car would only crank on the occasion that it felt like it. I never bothered to fix this
ghetto anti-theft system as I parked on a slant at home and work so I just always roll started the car. The
dash bouncing over bumps in the road was both comical and annoying with the targa roof on the car. With
the roof off, it was so bad it was disturbing. Can you say cowl shake? Rust had created a few Homer
Simpson "speed holes" around the bumpers. And of course, it also came with the signature FIAT oil leak
and deafening wind and rattle noise. But it wasn't all bad. Who else can say they had an Italian, mid
engine, sports car for $2200? It also always got me from point A to point B at 30mpg and looking cooler
than if I were driving an MR2. As for performance, the acceleration made the MR2 seem like a muscle car.
And for handling, it made the MR2 seem like, well.... A muscle car. Don't be fooled by the stock .80 lateral
G number. The mods on the car I owned made it weigh in at 2000 lbs with me in it and it absolutely
cornered. Drag race record was 1-1. A loss to TTR-012 and a win over an extremely beat up '70's long
bed Datsun pickup. I can't remember how I knew this guy was racing, but I swear he was.
